Following the outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019 (abbreviated as “COVID-19”) many countries globally including some of the EAC Partner States are struggling to respond to the outbreak. This respiratory disease that is spreading from person-to-person due to a novel (new) coronavirus has neither a cure nor vaccine so far.

The EAC secretariat has since constituted an Adhoc Regional Coordination Committee (RCC) for COVID- 19 to coordinate and advise the Partner States on matters preventing the spread and response to the outbreak. 

The Adhoc RCC is meeting regularly to provide regional response to the pandemic.
