8th November 2021:  SESSION ON REGIONAL CONSULTATION ON THE ESA COMMITMENT

 

1.     Purpose and Objectives of the meeting

The purpose of the meeting is to validate the regional instruments developed under the EAC Integrated Health programme (EIHP) and review the Background paper for the 21st EAC Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health

Specifically, the meeting will:

i.      Validate the Comprehensive RMNCAH and HIV and AIDS programme  2021-2026

ii.    Validate the 2nd edition of the State of women, children’ and Adolescent health and HIV and AIDS report for the EAC region

iii.   Validate the EAC Health (RMNCAH & HIV/AIDS) indicators booklet (2021) for Scorecard generation and for sharing knowledge through the EAC Health Data warehouse and EAC Health Portal

iv.   Validate the architecture for the proposed EAC Digital Integrated Health Scorecard Dashboard (HESDA)

v.     Review the draft roadmap towards establishment of EAC Digital Integrated Health Scorecard Dashboard (HESDA) and initiatives for accelerating scorecard data utilizations together with the indicative budget requirement

vi.  Validate the Regional STI ‘Boresha Huduma’ study report.

vii. Validate the drafts slide-deck and a Policy brief of the Assessment of the Integration of RMNCAH and HIV-AIDS;

viii. Validate the drafts Policy brief and Slide-deck on the First edition of the State of Women’s and Children’s Health and HIV and HIV-AIDS

 

2.     Participants

The meeting will be attended by the members of the Joint Technical working group on RMNCAH and HIV& AIDS and staff from the EAC Secretariat. In addition, the experts who have been actively involved in the development of these materials are expected to be part of this meeting in order to guide until the full validation. There will be a number of participants who will participate virtually from time to time in view to receive inputs from all the key stakeholders who will not be able to join physically. The meeting intends to receive among others, contributions from the U.N agencies, bilateral development Agencies such as SIDA, USAID and Civil society organisations.

 

3.     Expected outcomes

 

i.      A strategic guiding document on regional cooperation pertaining to RMNCAH and HIV-AIDS matters for the next 5 years is ready for adoption by the Sectoral council of Ministers on Health.

ii.    The region has reference documents with evidences to guide programming on STIs matters.

iii.   Available RMNCAH and HIV & AIDS advocacy materials ready for use in relevant forums.  

iv.   Up to date EAC Health (RMNCAH & HIV/AIDS) indicators booklet (2021) for Scorecard generation and for sharing knowledge through the EAC Health Data warehouse and EAC Health Portal

v.     Agreed upon architecture for the proposed EAC Digital Integrated Health Scorecard Dashboard (DISDA)

vi.   Agreed upon roadmap towards operationalize the proposed EAC Digital Integrated Health Scorecard Dashboard (DISDA) and initiatives for accelerating scorecard data utilizations
