The EAC Secretariat, Partner States, WHO and Africa CDC have taken drastic measures towards addressing the COVID-19. Several steps have been taken to contain the disease and prevent further spread in the EAC region.
The Secretariat has established an Adhoc EAC Regional Coordination Committee on COVID -19 response. The Joint Meeting of the EAC Ministers responsible for Health and EAC Ministers responsible for EAC Affairs was also held on 25th March 2020 to provide regional guidance in responding to COVID -19 crisis and map up containment strategies to stem out any further spread of the disease in the region and develop a clear plan to mitigate against impacts caused by COVID -19 pandemic in the region.

The East African Community (EAC) is a regional intergovernmental organisation of six (6) Partner States, comprising Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania and Uganda, with its headquarters in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania .
